When I launched this weblog a little over six months ago, the idea was to provide future visitors of Istanbul, tourists and expats alike, with valuable information about this great city.
At the same time, I would use this platform to keep friends and family up-to-date about our well-being and current adventures.
Thus Istanbul Trails, a blog about Istanbul seen through the eyes of a foreigner was founded. Half a year later, I’m caught in the middle.

At one end there are my friends and family. The ones I left behind as well as new acquaintances I made through Istanbul Trails. They often request me to post more updates about our current lives or speed up the story about how I ended up in Istanbul, found the love of my life, got married and am now about to become a father for the first time.
At the other end, there are the loyal visitors of Istanbul Trails who are mostly interested in posts containing tips & tricks about the city. Of course there are also people that showed their appreciation for the current mix.
The Forlanis
So, in order to please you all, we decided to create a little spin-off: The Forlanis. There you will find every little piece of information worth mentioning about our lives here. The first twenty posts (in as many days, weekends excluded) will cover the first two episodes of my life in Istanbul: my bachelor years and my marriage. From then on, the focus will undoubtedly be on how I experience my looming fatherhood. This is very likely to be a hilarious case of trial and error, since this is our first child.
And Istanbul Trails will focus on… my experiences, tips and tricks about Istanbul.
