The Süleymaniye Mosque (Süleymaniye Camii) in the Bazaar district is a grand mosque and very capable of rivalling with the Blue Mosque, if not beating it. Below you’ll find a fair impression of it.

There are two versions available: YouTube (smaller in size and lesser quality) and a WVM-version (bigger but better quality). The length of both movies is the same: 3:07 min. Enjoy!

The Bazaar District

by Max on March 27, 2008

Trade has been omnipresent in Istanbul’s history and is the keyword for this area. From the Egyptian or Spice Bazaar on the shore of the Golden Horn (Haliç) in Eminönü all the way up the hill to the Grand Bazaar, you’ll find side-streets full of merchants showing their goods in various markets.
The district is also home to the Suleymaniye Mosque, often forgotten by tourists but in my opinion even nicer than the more famous Blue Mosque.

  1. Grand Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı)
  2. Süleymaniye Mosque (Süleymaniye Camii)
  3. Egyptian or Spice Bazaar (Mısır Çarşısı)
  4. Eminönü
  5. Bosphorus Tours (Boğaz Turu)
