Istanbul Trails - Your personal city trip & expat guide for Istanbul

New to Istanbul Trails?

If you're new here, you may want to check out how this site is set up. If you like what you read, you can subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

If you are new to Istanbul Trails and/or blogs in general, the information below may help you get the most out of this website.

How this blog is set up?

Istanbul Trails will consist of four categories: City Trip, Expat Stay, The Way I See Things and Miscellaneous. The first two categories need no clarification I guess. The Way I See Things category will cover facets of Istanbul life that caught my attention, e.g. why cheese doesn’t come grated. These are just funny to read or think about, but are of limited use to tourists or expats. The Miscellaneous category groups all the rest, mostly website service messages.

You can easily retrieve all the articles of a certain category, by clicking on the category name at the top of the site (that is just above the Istanbul Trails banner). However, for the time being I’m focusing on the City Trip category.

Key Articles

How to Find Key Articles in Istanbul Trails? In order to make navigation in the blog even easier, I also added a navigation sidebar providing you with an overview of all the key articles.
Simply click on one of the labels to open the respective post. The list will grow longer as the blog matures.

Of course you don’t want to miss a thing!

To get the most out of Istanbul Trails and keep up with the latest posts, I highly recommend that you subscribe to our blog. This way you don’t have to surf to the site multiple times a day to check whether or not a new article has been posted. As soon as new material has been published, you will be notified automatically.

For those among you who are familiar with RSS feeds, you can subscribe by clicking on the Subscribe via RSS icon in the top banner of the blog.

How to Subscribe to Istanbul Trails Via E-mail?If you are not into RSS feeds, no need to panic. There is still the good ‘old’ e-mail, so you can subscribe to our e-mail notification service!
You can find the subscription form at the top right sidebar. Just fill in your e-mail address and press the Subscribe button.

A new window will appear, asking you to copy some random letters to prevent spam. Once done correctly, you’ll get a confirmation mail from confirmations@emailenfuego .com. Be on the lookout for it, so it doesn’t end up in your spam folder! That mail contains a link to activate your subscription. Click on it and you’re all set. From that moment on, you will be notified by e-mail as soon as I publish a new article. And only then will you receive an e-mail. I can assure you that there will be absolutely no spam messages sent out!

How Can I respond to a Post? Introduce Yourself!

If you want to comment on an article, share a thought on the subject or even highlight a mistake or omission, you can do so easily and from within the blog itself. There is no need to send me an e-mail via the contact form in the Contact / Advertise section. Receiving less e-mails was one of the reasons to start this blog in the first place.

To write a response to an article, just click in the proximaty of the word comment, often found within {brackets}.

Leaving a comment is easy! Just fill in your name as you want it displayed on the blog and your e-mail address. Your e-mail address will under no circumstances be published on the site or shared with others. If you have a website of your own, you can write its URL in the Website field, but this is not mandatory. Finally, you of course have to write your witty comments!

Before pressing the Submit Comment button, you may want to tick the Notify me of follow-up comments via e-mail box. Doing so will… what it says really, send you an e-mail when others respond to this article too. And yes, when after a while you no longer want notifications for a certain article, you can easily unsubscribe again.

I hope this information was a bit helpful and will make your Istanbul Trails visits a bit more worthwhile.

Again, welcome to Istanbul Trails!
