The Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii) was built by Sultan Ahmet I in attempt to placate Allah. One of its main features are the six minarets (based on a huge misunderstanding), although you see only four in this picture.

The central dome of the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii) is 23,5 meters in diameter and 43 meters high at its central point. It’s a great piece of architecture, but in my opinion not as impressive as the dome of the Hagia Sophia.

The floors of the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii) are covered with carpets, which are donated by faithful people and are regularly replaced as they get worn out. A significant part is reserved for Muslims who want to pray, hence forbidden for tourists.
